Unite join campaign

10th August 2009

One of Ireland's largest general trades unions, Unite (formerly ATGWU and MSF) has joined The Poor Can't Pay campaign. Regional Secretary, Jimmy Kelly, said that Unite were 'delighted to join the campaign'. Three trades unions - Siptu, Mandate and Unite - are now members of the campaign, which brings together Community & Voluntary Organisations with Trades Unions to oppose cuts in basic welfare payments and the minimum wage and argue for the payment of the Christmas payment to welfare recipients.
